Celebrating National Wear Red Day

Did you know February is American Heart Health Month?

According to the American Heart Association, cardiovascular disease claims the lives of 1-in-3 women.

In order to spread awareness and support, the association has named the first Friday of February “National Wear Red Day”. By simply incorporating red into your outfit on Friday, February 5, you can stand in solidarity with the movement to promote healthy living.

Some common risk factors for heart disease include; smoking, hypertension and diabetes.

Chronic conditions can also be exacerbated by high levels of stress. Finding a way to manage stress can include breathing exercises or as easy as doing something you enjoy.

However, nearly 80-percent of cardiac events can be prevented by simple and easy measures including eating healthy foods and getting adequate exercise.

Cyrano wants to encourage everyone to do something to promote your heart’s health!

Cardiologists can use Cyrano to show off their red outfits and share their favorite tidbits of advice for taking care of heart health.

One of our favorite pieces of advice is to laugh! Did you know that laughing can help your heart?

The American Heart Association says laughing can improve blood flow by 20-percent and the effects can last up to 24 hours.

So, in honor of National Wear Red Day, we will end by taking a shot at making you laugh with a quick joke:

A turkey sandwich walks into a bar. The bartender says, “I’m sorry we don’t serve food here.”
